The mission of our Religious Education Program is to instruct and nurture the children, teens and adults of our parish in the richness of our Catholic Faith. We reaffirm our belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. We strive to lead everyone to a life of prayer and communion with our God and with each other, which reveals itself in service to others.
The Religious Education program at La Purísima Concepción Catholic Church has classes for children in all grade levels.
The Religious Education program uses textbooks that have been reviewed by the Los Angeles Archdiocesan Office of Religious Education and are in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church (2nd Edition, 1997) and comply with guidelines stated in the National Catechetical Directory(2005). Copies of all textbooks used in our program are available for parent review.
The entire body of Catholic doctrine is not conveyed in any single year, but each year of religious education builds on those that preceded and leads to what follows, according to the child's level of understanding.
Registration for Religious Education classes takes place in August for all students. Registration closes the week classes begin for those children preparing to receive a sacrament. Registration paperwork is accepted throughout the school year for all other classes.
The fees for Religious Education classes are different for each class. The fees are used to cover the cost of textbooks, supplies used in the classroom and various activities throughout the year. Registration fees are nonrefundable. No one will be denied Religious Education for financial reasons. Contact the Religious Education Office to make confidential arrangements.
ALL paperwork must be completed AND all required certificates turned in by the first week of class.
