LA PURISIMA SCHOOL STUDENT WINS CALIFORNIA CDA EDUCATION CONTEST
Anya Gallardo, our Court’s 1st Place winner at the State Catholic Daughters Education contest was our guest at our September 2018 meeting. Anya read her winning poem, entitled, “The Joy of My Life.” She is a 6th grade student at La Purisima School. Her teachers tell us she is an exceptional student as well as a lector at the children’s mass on Fridays.
Very importantly, her teachers also tell us her family is a very strong faith-based family, which is certainly reflected in her poem. She was accompanied by her sister, Amalie, who is a 4th grade student at La Purisima and by her father, Rigoberto.
THE JOY OF MY LIFE
Home is the joy of my life,
Full of the wonderful people I love,
Tangy scents of cooking fill my nose with glee
French perfume scented roses greet me
Glorious hobbies fulfill my time with joy
Challenging hours of homework, school, and sports
Relaxing weekends of crafting, cooking, and playing
Ended with church to thank God for living.
