RECONCILIATION or PENANCE  or CONFESSION
     The Lord never ceases to call us to holiness and eternal life.  Due to the frailty of human nature and our inclination to sin (concupiscence) baptized Christians need the grace of Christ so we may prove ourselves (win the race) in the struggle of Christian life.   We privately confess our sins and failings to a priest in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  


"Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion."
